4 Dead in Murder-Suicide in Defiance, Ohio

Facts:

  • Suspect and victims appear to be family members
  • Police are investigating a house on the 2500 block of Bowman street in Defiance, Ohio in connection with a triple murder-suicide
  • Garza was arrested for domestic violence, a fourth degree felony in Ohio, in September of 2012
  •  Defiance is located 56 miles (90 km) southwest of Toledo
Police in Defiance, Ohio are investigating a murder suicide on the 2500 block of Bowman street in Defiance, Ohio.

The dead have been named as Robert Pilar Garza Sr., Christine Garza, his wife, Zoila Garza, his daughter, and granddaughter, Rebecca Garza.

Ages of the victims were not given.

The four family members were last seen around 3 PM Thursday afternoon. 

The four were found when a family member arrived at the house to check on the welfare of the family members. Police were called at roughly 8:30 PM.

Robert Garza is believed to be the gunman. He was arrested and convicted of domestic violence, a fourth degree felony in the state of Ohio, late 2012.

Police say that they will continue to interview friends, family, and neighbors throughout the night.
