George Zimmerman to Fight Rapper DMX in Celebrity Boxing Match

Zimmerman and DMX to Engage in Celebrity Boxing Match

Facts:
Good TV or bad publicity?
  • George Zimmerman was acquitted of murder last July in the Trayvon Martin case
  • DMX has been arrested for animal cruelty, aggravated assault, driving without a license and impersonating a police officer
  • Zimmerman is 5'7" (1.7 meters) and weighs 185lbs (84kg)
  • DMX is 5'11" (1.8 meters) and weights 186 lbs (84 kg)
Last Thursday, TMZ reported that Zimmerman has agreed to take part in a celebrity boxing match. There was some speculation as to whom he would be squaring off with, but it appears that a decision has been made. Sometime on or before March 15th, DMX and George Zimmerman will take to the boxing ring with all proceeds reportedly being given to an animal rescue foundation.

In an interview with TMZ, DMX stated that he would "beat the living f*** out of him..." and break "every rule in boxing..." and [urinate] "right in his... face." At the time of this report, Zimmerman had not responded to DMX's comments.

BET.com reports that DMX was chosen out of over 15,000 applicants whom responded to Zimmerman's open challenge. Zimmerman originally expressed an inclination to fight Kanye West due to his "history of attacking 'defenseless people.'" California rapper, The Game, voiced his desire to step in the ring with Zimmerman, but was most likely turned down due to his extreme height and weight advantage.

There will be a press conference sometime next week in which the time and place of the fight will be announced.

George Zimmerman was acquitted of all charges stemming from the Trayvon Martin case in July of 2013, but was arrested in November of the same year for felony aggravated assault after allegedly pointing a shotgun at his girlfriend during an argument.

DMX's most previous scrape with the law stems from driving with a suspended license and without insurance near Greer, South Carolina. He was released after spending a few hours in jail.
